Midway Specialty Care Center, a 501 c3 clinic organization, is run by a volunteer board of directors.
Judith Brooks, MD
Judith Brooks MD recently joined our Board of Directors in 2019.
Dr. Brooks, a board certified Family Medicine Practitioner, is a graduate of the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey who completed her Family Medicine Internship and Residency Training at Morton Plant Hospital-University of South Florida, Clearwater, Florida. She subsequently pursued her fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital University of Miami, Miami, Florida.
Her current University affiliations include Clinical Assistant Professor at NOVA Southeastern University College of Medicine and Florida State University College of Medicine. She is also involved in the development of the St. Lucie Medical Center Family Medicine and Transitional Rotating Residency (TRI) Training Programs. Currently, Dr. Brooks is in Private Practice in Port St. Lucie. Previously she held the position of Chief Medical Officer for Treasure Coast Community Health Centers in Vero Beach & Fellsmere Florida.
Dr. Brooks has over twenty years experience working with HIV, she was very engaged in HIV research during her undergraduate and graduate studies and in 1996 participated in HIV research at Makerere University in Uganda through the World AIDS Foundation and Fogarty International Center/NIH Program.
In addition to her myriad duties, Dr. Brooks enjoys giving back to her community. She is currently a volunteer physician with The International American Medical Mission (IAMM), participating in both local and overseas missions. She has traveled to Santo Domingo and Jamaica in this capacity.
Prasad Chalasani, MD, FACP
Prasad Chalasani, MD completed Medical School at Andhra Medical College, Andhra University in India and then spent the next several years completing an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine followed by a Fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 1997, Dr. Chalasani founded Florida Heart Center and is on staff at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, St. Lucie Medical Center, and the Martin Memorial Health System. Dr. Chalasani holds several Board Certifications and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of Society of Cardiac Angiography & Interventions and a Fellow of Society of Cardiac CT. Dr. Chalasani has also served as Principal Investigator in numerous Clinical Trials. Dr. Chalasani is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at FSU College of Medicine and serves as a Visiting Professor at NTR University, Andhra Medical College.
Dr. Chalasani joined the Board of Directors in 2019.
Jeff Chambers
I was born in Giles County, VA, and I grew up in West Virginia and Long Beach, CA. During my academic journey, I attended Berea College in Berea, KY, Concord College in Athens, WV, and IRCC at the Stuart Campus. For the majority of my professional career, I worked with Wendy's International for 18 years, followed by a stint at a Wendy's franchise for 7 years. Subsequently, I transitioned to employment with Helping People Succeed, a non-profit organization, until the year 2010. Since 2005, I have been actively volunteering at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, where I currently hold the position of President.
Bonnie Brown, PA
Bonnie A. Brown relocated from Southern Illinois to the Treasure Coast in 1982. She earned her B.S. in Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, from Barry University. She was awarded her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University College of Law in Fort Lauderdale. Bonnie is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. She represents clients in the areas of Real Estate, Probate, Wills/Estates and Trust Law.

Matthew Tochtenhagen
ViiV Associate Director of Public Health
Matthew has over 15 years of HIV experience ranging from program development, implementation, and evaluation to HIV programmatic research. Matthew has over 10 years of local government experience, specifically in Ryan White program implementation and evaluation. Matthew was project lead on a special project of national significance with the RAND organization, HRSA, and HUD. Matthew currently serves as Director of Public Health ( Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky) for ViiV healthcare.
John T. Lanza, MD, FACS
Dr. Lanza received his Medical Degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, New York. Dr. Lanza completed a General Surgery Internship at Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, and his Otolaryngology Residency training at Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Lanza is Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. (FACS) He is also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. (AAO-HNS)
He has served as a Clinical Instructor with Palm Beach Centre of Graduate Medical Education through St Lucie Medical Center's Family Practice Clinical Internship Program and also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine at the Fort Pierce Regional Campus. Dr. Lanza has served as Principal Investigator on numerous clinical research trials in areas such as throat cancer and acute or chronic sinusitis.
Dr. Lanza has been serving the Treasure Coast since 1994. He has held various medical staff leadership roles locally. He joined the Midway Board in July 2023 as a Member-At-Large.
