Craig Callam, originally born and raised in Indiana, Craig decided to pursue a nursing career after his grandmother developed leukemia. He wanted to be able to help people that are sick and make a difference in their lives. After being a life-long resident of Indiana, he moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2004. Craig’s love for Disney, sand, beach and sun inspired him to move to Florida to serve the community. He started his 24 year nursing career in 1999 as a LPN, graduating from Galen College of Nursing. He then went on to continue his education, receiving his Associate of Science in Nursing followed by his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State College of Florida. Craig then completed his Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University College of Nursing in 2020 becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. He is Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Craig specialized in many different areas during his nursing career which included acute and critical care, emergency, oncology, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease, which lead him to practice for his passion of HIV.
With Craig being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, his desire is to give back to those in not just the LGBTQ+ community, but to all those that are living with HIV and hopefully one day, bringing the virus to its end, by prevention and education. In addition to HIV, PrEP, nPEP, men and women’s sexual health, he also takes on new patients for primary care for everyone.
Craig loves to laugh and wants to make sure every patient that walks through the door feels comfortable and before they leave, feel like all their problems have been addressed and that they have been heard. He will take the time to sit and listen, because he loves taking care of people and knowing that no matter what it takes, your health is most important.
Craig recently joined Midway Specialty Care Center, Inc. and will assess and treat patients in the Key West and Orlando Offices.
