Free Rapid HIV Testing in Wilton Manors

Know Your Status — Same Day, No Cost

HIV is a manageable condition when caught early — but an estimated one in eight people living with HIV don't know their status. Rapid HIV testing is one of the most effective tools we have for closing that gap. It's fast, free, and available right here in Wilton Manors.

At Midway Specialty Care Center, our free rapid HIV tests use a simple finger-stick blood sample and deliver results in approximately 20 minutes. No paperwork, no appointment, no cost. If your result is negative, we'll discuss your risk and connect you to prevention options like PrEP. If your result is reactive, we'll begin confirmatory testing and connect you directly to our HIV care team — all at the same clinic.

Whether you've never been tested or just want peace of mind, we're here with the same professional, nonjudgmental care we bring to all of our patients.

What Rapid HIV Testing at Midway Includes

A complete testing experience — from the test itself to counseling and connection to care.

Test

The Rapid HIV Test

We use a 4th-generation rapid HIV test that detects both HIV antibodies and p24 antigen from a small finger-stick blood sample. Results are typically available in 20 minutes or less. The test is highly accurate and FDA-approved for use in clinical settings.

Free

No Cost, No Insurance Required

Rapid HIV testing at Midway is completely free. You do not need health insurance, a referral, or a prior appointment to receive a test. As a federally qualified nonprofit clinic, we provide free testing as part of our commitment to HIV prevention and community health.

Counsel

Pre- & Post-Test Counseling

Before your test, we'll briefly review your risk history and explain what the results mean. After your test, a counselor or clinician will walk you through your result, answer your questions, and discuss next steps — whether that's PrEP for prevention, confirmation testing, or beginning HIV treatment.

Next Steps

Connection to HIV Care or Prevention

One of the most important advantages of testing at a specialty clinic is what happens after. If your result is reactive, our infectious disease physicians can begin confirmatory Western blot testing and initiate your HIV care — often at the same visit. If you're negative, we can prescribe PrEP to keep you that way.

nPEP

nPEP for Recent Exposure

If you believe you've been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours, time is critical. nPEP (non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis) is a 28-day course of antiretroviral medications that can prevent HIV infection if started promptly. Call us immediately — we can evaluate you and prescribe nPEP the same day.

Who Should Get Tested

HIV testing is recommended for a broad range of people — not only those with symptoms or known exposure.

Sexually Active Adults

The CDC recommends that all adults between 15 and 65 be tested for HIV at least once as part of routine care, and that those at higher risk be tested at least once a year. If you've never been tested, now is the right time.

LGBTQ+ Community

Gay and bisexual men and transgender individuals remain disproportionately affected by HIV. We provide affirming, stigma-free care and recommend testing every 3 to 6 months for those at higher risk. All patients are welcome here.

Known or Possible Exposure

If you had unprotected sex with a partner whose status is unknown, shared injection equipment, or had a condom break, testing is strongly recommended. If exposure was within the past 72 hours, call us immediately — nPEP can prevent infection if started in time.

Before Starting PrEP

A confirmed HIV-negative test is required before starting PrEP. If you're interested in PrEP, we can complete your rapid HIV test and baseline lab work in the same visit — getting you started on prevention as quickly as possible.
