Confidential, judgment-free STD screening and treatment from board-certified infectious disease specialists.
STD Testing in Port St. Lucie
Regular STD testing is one of the most important things you can do for your sexual health — and for the health of your partners. Many sexually transmitted infections cause no symptoms, meaning the only way to know your status is to get tested. Early detection leads to earlier treatment and prevents transmission.
At Midway Specialty Care Center in Port St. Lucie, our infectious disease specialists provide comprehensive STD screening in a private, respectful environment. We test for the full range of common STDs, offer same-visit results for rapid HIV testing, and can begin treatment the same day when indicated.
Whether this is your first time getting tested or you're due for routine screening, we make the process straightforward and judgment-free.
Comprehensive screening for the full range of sexually transmitted infections.
We offer both rapid HIV testing with same-visit results in about 20 minutes, and standard lab-based testing for confirmed results. Fourth-generation combination tests detect both HIV antibodies and the p24 antigen, providing accurate results as early as 18–45 days after potential exposure.
Syphilis rates have been rising nationally and in Florida. We test for syphilis using a blood draw and can confirm the stage of infection if a positive result is returned. Early-stage syphilis is easily treated with a single antibiotic injection — making timely testing especially important.
Gonorrhea and chlamydia are the two most commonly reported STDs in the US — and the majority of infections cause no noticeable symptoms. We test genital, rectal, and throat sites as appropriate based on your sexual history, and provide same-visit treatment when results are available.
Both hepatitis B and C can be transmitted sexually and through shared equipment. We screen for both with a blood test and provide appropriate follow-up care, vaccination referrals for hepatitis B, and direct-acting antiviral treatment coordination for hepatitis C.
We also offer herpes testing, HPV counseling, and nPEP (non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis) for patients who may have been exposed to HIV within the past 72 hours. nPEP must be started quickly to be effective — call us immediately if you think you may need it.

STD testing is recommended for a wide range of people — not just those with symptoms.
The CDC recommends that all sexually active adults be screened for HIV at least once, and that those at higher risk be tested more frequently. Annual STD screening is recommended for anyone with new or multiple partners.
Gay and bisexual men, and transgender individuals, are disproportionately affected by HIV and other STDs. We provide affirming, culturally competent care and recommend testing every 3–6 months for those at higher risk.
Unusual discharge, sores, rashes, burning, or pelvic pain can all signal an STD. Don't wait — come in for evaluation. Many STDs are highly treatable when caught early, and prompt care prevents complications and onward transmission.
Starting PrEP requires a baseline HIV-negative test and STD screening before your first prescription. We coordinate both at the same visit, making it easy to start your prevention regimen quickly and efficiently.
STD testing at Midway is straightforward, private, and thorough.
Call our Port St. Lucie office at (772) 335-4234 or submit the request form to schedule. No referral is required for STD testing. Let us know if you have specific symptoms or concerns so we can allocate the right amount of time.
Your provider will review your health history and ask questions about your sexual practices to determine which tests are most appropriate. Everything discussed is confidential and protected by HIPAA. Being open and honest helps us provide the most thorough and accurate screening.
Testing typically involves a blood draw, urine sample, and/or swab depending on the infections being screened. Rapid HIV testing returns results within 20 minutes. Other lab results are typically available within a few days and reviewed with you by your care team.
If any results come back positive, we'll walk you through what it means, what your treatment options are, and how to protect your partners. Many STDs — including gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis — can be treated the same day with antibiotics. For HIV, we'll coordinate care with our infectious disease team immediately.
