Hepatitis Care in West Palm Beach

Modern Hepatitis Treatment

Hepatitis B and C are serious liver infections caused by viruses that can be transmitted through blood, sexual contact, or from mother to child. Left untreated, both can lead to chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, or liver cancer — but with the right care, outcomes have dramatically improved. Hepatitis C is now curable in the vast majority of patients, and hepatitis B can be effectively managed long-term.

At Midway Specialty Care Center in West Palm Beach, our infectious disease physicians specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis. We provide individualized care plans, access to the latest FDA-approved therapies, and the ongoing liver monitoring needed to protect your health over the long term.

Whether you were recently diagnosed, referred by another physician, or have been living with hepatitis for years without treatment, we're ready to help.

What Hepatitis Care at Midway Includes

Comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and monitoring.

HCV

Hepatitis C Treatment (Curative)

Modern direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy can cure hepatitis C in more than 95% of patients — often with just 8–12 weeks of once-daily oral medication. We determine the best DAA regimen based on your viral genotype, liver fibrosis stage, and prior treatment history, and provide close monitoring throughout to confirm cure.

HBV

Hepatitis B Management & Treatment

Unlike hepatitis C, chronic hepatitis B currently has no cure, but it can be effectively managed with antiviral therapy to suppress viral replication, protect liver function, and reduce the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. We evaluate whether treatment is indicated based on viral load, liver enzymes, and fibrosis stage, and provide long-term follow-up care.

Labs

Liver Function & Viral Load Monitoring

Regular laboratory testing is central to hepatitis management. We monitor liver enzyme levels (ALT/AST), viral load, hepatitis antigen and antibody markers, and bilirubin — tracking how your liver is responding to treatment and whether the virus is being suppressed or eliminated. Monitoring frequency is tailored to your specific situation.

Rx

Medication Access Through 340B

Direct-acting antiviral medications for hepatitis C can cost tens of thousands of dollars without assistance. As a federally qualified 340B nonprofit clinic, we can provide these medications at dramatically reduced costs for eligible patients. Our team also assists with insurance prior authorizations and pharmaceutical patient assistance programs.

Co-Inf

HIV / Hepatitis Co-Infection Management

HIV and hepatitis C frequently occur together, and HIV infection can accelerate liver disease progression in patients with hepatitis. Our infectious disease physicians are experienced in managing co-infected patients — coordinating HIV antiretroviral therapy alongside hepatitis treatment for optimal outcomes in both conditions.

Who We Help

Our clinic treats patients at every stage of disease.

Newly Diagnosed

If you've recently tested positive for hepatitis B or C, we'll walk you through what your diagnosis means, what testing is needed to understand your liver health, and what treatment options are available — clearly and without alarm.

Living With Untreated Hepatitis

Many people live with hepatitis B or C for years without treatment — either because they weren't aware of treatment options or faced barriers to access. It's not too late to start. Modern therapies are far more effective and tolerable than older regimens.

HIV / Hepatitis Co-Infection

Patients living with HIV who also have hepatitis B or C require specialized care that addresses both infections simultaneously. Our infectious disease team manages co-infected patients with the depth of expertise both conditions demand.

Transferring Care

Moving your hepatitis care to a new provider is straightforward. We'll review your prior records, continue or adjust your current management plan, and provide coordinated follow-up — including any needed imaging or referrals.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Getting the right evaluation is the first step toward effective treatment.

1

Schedule Your Appointment

Call our West Palm Beach office at (561) 249-2279 or submit the request form. If you have prior lab results or records from another provider, bring them along — they help us understand where you are in your diagnosis and avoid duplicating tests already completed.

2

Diagnostic Evaluation & Lab Work

Your provider will review your health history and order any needed lab work — including viral load, genotype testing for hepatitis C, liver enzyme panels, and hepatitis antigen/antibody markers. For patients with known disease, we assess the degree of liver fibrosis to guide treatment decisions.

3

Treatment Plan & Medication Start

Once results are reviewed, your provider will discuss your treatment options in plain language. For hepatitis C, we'll select the right DAA regimen and handle any insurance prior authorization. For hepatitis B, we'll determine whether antiviral therapy is indicated now or whether monitoring is the appropriate first step.

4

Ongoing Monitoring & Follow-up

For hepatitis C patients on DAA therapy, follow-up labs are scheduled during and after treatment to confirm the virus is clearing. Cure is confirmed with a sustained virologic response (SVR) 12 weeks after completing treatment. Hepatitis B patients receive regular liver function monitoring on a schedule based on viral activity and treatment status.
