Preventive Care in Fort Pierce
An annual wellness exam is one of the most impactful steps you can take for your long-term health. At Midway Primary Care in Fort Pierce, our physicians use your annual visit to review your overall health, screen for developing conditions before they become serious, update your immunizations, and build a personalized preventive care plan.
Preventive care catches problems early — when they're easiest to treat. Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and cancer screenings are far more effective when they're detected in their earliest stages, not after symptoms appear.
Whether you haven't had a physical in years or you're due for your annual checkup, our team makes it easy to schedule, complete your visit, and stay on track with your health.
A comprehensive visit covering every aspect of your health — in one appointment.
Your provider will conduct a thorough physical assessment — reviewing cardiovascular function, respiratory health, abdominal exam, musculoskeletal system, skin, and neurological reflexes. Vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, weight, and BMI are recorded and reviewed.
Blood tests give us a window into your internal health. We order a comprehensive metabolic panel, complete blood count, lipid panel (cholesterol), fasting glucose or HbA1c (diabetes screening), thyroid function, and other tests based on your age and risk factors. Results are reviewed with you at your visit or by follow-up.
We follow U.S. Preventive Services Task Force guidelines to ensure you receive age-appropriate cancer screenings, cardiovascular risk assessments, and other preventive tests. This includes discussions about colonoscopy, mammography, osteoporosis screening, and skin cancer surveillance based on your age, sex, and personal risk factors.
We review your immunization history and bring you up to date on recommended adult vaccines — including influenza, pneumococcal, shingles (Shingrix), Tdap, COVID-19, and others based on your age and health conditions. Vaccines are administered in-office at your convenience.
Your visit concludes with a care summary and forward-looking plan tailored to your health profile. We address lifestyle factors — diet, exercise, sleep, stress — and set health goals to work toward before your next visit. Medication reviews, specialist referrals, and any needed follow-up are coordinated here.
Preventive care is for everyone — not just those who feel sick.
If it's been more than a year since your last checkup, now is a great time to get back on track. Annual exams catch slow-developing conditions like high blood pressure and pre-diabetes before they cause damage.
If you have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, or another ongoing condition, your annual visit is an opportunity to review your progress, adjust medications, and ensure your condition is well-managed.
A wellness exam is the ideal first visit for new patients. It lets us build a complete picture of your health history, establish your baseline labs, and create a care plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.
Preventive screenings become increasingly important with age. If you have a family history of heart disease, cancer, or diabetes, targeted screening at annual visits can dramatically improve early detection and outcomes.
Your annual exam is simple and straightforward. Here's what the process looks like.
