Free Rapid HIV Testing in Port St. Lucie
HIV is a manageable condition when caught early — but an estimated one in eight people living with HIV don't know their status. Rapid HIV testing is one of the most effective tools we have for closing that gap. It's fast, free, and available right here in Port St. Lucie.
At Midway Specialty Care Center, our free rapid HIV tests use a simple finger-stick blood sample and deliver results in approximately 20 minutes. No paperwork, no appointment, no cost. If your result is negative, we'll discuss your risk and connect you to prevention options like PrEP. If your result is reactive, we'll begin confirmatory testing and connect you directly to our HIV care team — all at the same clinic.
Whether you've never been tested or just want peace of mind, we're here with the same professional, nonjudgmental care we bring to all of our patients.
A complete testing experience — from the test itself to counseling and connection to care.
We use a 4th-generation rapid HIV test that detects both HIV antibodies and p24 antigen from a small finger-stick blood sample. Results are typically available in 20 minutes or less. The test is highly accurate and FDA-approved for use in clinical settings.
Rapid HIV testing at Midway is completely free. You do not need health insurance, a referral, or a prior appointment to receive a test. As a federally qualified nonprofit clinic, we provide free testing as part of our commitment to HIV prevention and community health.
Before your test, we'll briefly review your risk history and explain what the results mean. After your test, a counselor or clinician will walk you through your result, answer your questions, and discuss next steps — whether that's PrEP for prevention, confirmation testing, or beginning HIV treatment.
One of the most important advantages of testing at a specialty clinic is what happens after. If your result is reactive, our infectious disease physicians can begin confirmatory Western blot testing and initiate your HIV care — often at the same visit. If you're negative, we can prescribe PrEP to keep you that way.
If you believe you've been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours, time is critical. nPEP (non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis) is a 28-day course of antiretroviral medications that can prevent HIV infection if started promptly. Call us immediately — we can evaluate you and prescribe nPEP the same day.
Board-certified infectious disease specialists ready to test, counsel, and connect you to care.

Lauren Leeflang is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. Lauren was only two semesters away from graduating with a Bachelor of the Arts in Anthropology from the University of Florida when she enrolled in a Medical Anthropology course. From that moment on, she was fascinated by the societal and cultural influences on healthcare and medicine, leading her to immediately enroll in Florida Atlantic University's Pre-Health Professions Post-Baccalaureate program upon the completion of her degree. It was there that she learned more about the Physician Assistant profession and the nationwide shortage of primary care providers. She graduated with honors from the Nova Southeastern University Physician Assistant Program in Orlando, Florida, where she earned her Masters of Medical Sciences. As a PA, Lauren is passionate about primary care, and appreciates the diverse clinical challenges of HIV and other infectious diseases. A self-described "food nerd," Lauren spends much of her free time in the kitchen trying new recipes, or brewing beer with her husband. She also loves gardening, the beach, and her adorable dog, Kona.

HIV testing is recommended for a broad range of people — not only those with symptoms or known exposure.
The CDC recommends that all adults between 15 and 65 be tested for HIV at least once as part of routine care, and that those at higher risk be tested at least once a year. If you've never been tested, now is the right time.
Gay and bisexual men and transgender individuals remain disproportionately affected by HIV. We provide affirming, stigma-free care and recommend testing every 3 to 6 months for those at higher risk. All patients are welcome here.
If you had unprotected sex with a partner whose status is unknown, shared injection equipment, or had a condom break, testing is strongly recommended. If exposure was within the past 72 hours, call us immediately — nPEP can prevent infection if started in time.
A confirmed HIV-negative test is required before starting PrEP. If you're interested in PrEP, we can complete your rapid HIV test and baseline lab work in the same visit — getting you started on prevention as quickly as possible.
Rapid HIV testing at Midway is quick, private, and straightforward.
No appointment is required for rapid HIV testing. Simply walk in during our office hours at our Port St. Lucie clinic at 1801 SE Hillmoor Dr, Suite C207. If you prefer, you can call us at (772) 335-4234 to confirm availability or let us know you're coming.
You'll complete a short intake form and provide consent for testing. A clinician will briefly review your risk history to help guide counseling after your results. Everything is confidential — your information is never shared without your permission.
A small finger-stick blood sample is collected and processed in our clinic. Results are typically available in 20 minutes or less. You'll wait comfortably on-site while we process your sample.
A clinician will deliver your results privately and walk you through what they mean. A negative result is reassuring — we'll discuss whether PrEP is right for you. A reactive result triggers immediate confirmatory testing and a warm handoff to our HIV care team, who can begin treatment planning the same day.
